ArborGen
Australasia is a wholly owned subsidiary of
ArborGen LLC (www.arborgen.com), a world leading
tree improvement and treestock production
business. Headquartered in the United States,
ArborGen LLC operates from 20 locations, producing
350 million treestocks annually and employing 185
people.
ArborGen purchased Horizon2 on October 31st 2007
from Rubicon in a transaction that also saw
International Paper and MeadWestvaco sell their
respective nursery and orchard businesses into
ArborGen, moving ArborGen from a research-based
business into a fully integrated tree improvement
business.
Horizon2 itself was formed back in 2004 as a
result of merging what were originally the
biotech/nursery businesses of Carter Holt Harvey and
Fletcher Forests. |

ArborGen Australasia is a specialist forest
biotechnology business and the largest producer of
elite treestocks in New Zealand and Australia. Capitalising
on over 40 years of experience, the company has
developed the most advanced capabilities available
to foresters in NZ and Australia. These capabilities
are evident in the superior performance of ArborGen
Australasia treestocks.
Our active research and development programme is
continuously improving propagation methods both in
laboratory and nursery environments. Our breeding programme adds value to the genetics portfolio in
New Zealand and Australia through the production of elite pedigree
seed stock at our two seed orchards and through
the establishment and analysis of clonal and family
trials.
